THERE WILL BE NO ENTRIES AFTER JULY 31st  AND NO ENTRIES ON RACE DAY

2018 sees the return of the Newmachar 10km race – a closed road event which takes in some of the back roads of Newmachar and Disblair with several hills to enjoy.

Once again, we would not have managed to stage this race without the support of many local businesses who have sponsored the event. All monies raised from the 2018 10km race will be supporting the Newmachar Axis Community Centre, Newmachar United Football Club and Charlie House.

The route itself will start off in the field next to Charlie Gordon Football park where approx. 100m shall be run on grass. Once onto the road we will take a left turn and head out towards Disblair Road. After climbing Disblair Road we will continue down past Lairshill Kennels until we come to the T-junction where a right turn shall be taken by the runners. They will continue onto the junction at Middleton Farm where a right turn shall be taken and an ascent up Straloch Hill shall be taken following the route back onto Disblair Road where the route will re-join at Disblair Hill before coming back to the start finish area.

The entire route shall be signposted and marshalled at all property junctions and closed road junctions. The road will reopen after the last runner has passed at the relevant stages.

In 2018 we will be opening the kids race to all with the same category of runners as previous years based on age. The entries for this race will be handled online here with an entry fee of £5 per child.

• Category 1 – 4, 5 & 6 years old
• Category 2 – 7, 8 & 9 years old
• Category 3 – 10, 11 & 12 years old

Categories shall be based on the age of kids as of September 8th, 2018.

NOTE: If you are entering children into the event then the person entering them (ie the person creating the profile and the order) MUST be an adult.

10k Entry – £20

Kids Entry – £5 per child 

Age Groups and Categories

This 10km event shall be for men and women categories for the prizes, there will be no specific age categories. To run, you must be 16 years or older on the day of the race.

Water Stops

This year we have decided to have one water stop, which will be located at the junction at the top of Disblair Hill, this way runners will get the benefit of an earlier water station and also at the same point on the return.

Race Timing

Timing chips will be provided at registration and results will be posted on Results Base straight after the race. This year’s event shall have the chips included within your bib number.

Parking

Parking is a premium in Newmachar, on the day of the race there will be limited car parking spaces available. There shall be limited spaces adjacent to the Newmachar Hotel, Axis Centre and Newmachar Primary School. Please do not park in the official Newmachar Hotel (behind hotel) and Beekies (behind bar) car parks as these are for customers only. The road to Charlie Gordons football park shall be closed and no parking at the football park will be available on the day. If parking on the street within the village please consider residents whilst parking, do not block off driveways or cars within the village.

Facilities

On the day, there will be changing facilities available at the Axis Centre in the centre of the village, alternatively there shall be some gazebos for changing at the start finish area.

Road Crossings for Runners

The event has obtained a permit to close the roads for the race, however there are six road crossing junctions on the route which will be marshalled with radio communication to the race director and emergency first aiders.
