Our Portsoy Fun Run includes two races, the 2k "Wee Sporran" fun run and the 10k "Follow the Herring" road run. It is taking place on Sunday 23rd June 2019 as part of the Portsoy Boat Festival.
Registration
Registration for both races starts at 8.30am. On-the-day registration closes at 9.45am and registration for pre-entries (people who have entered online) closes at 10.15am.
Registration is at the events caravan situated at the Recreation Park Car Park.
Car parking is available at Portsoy Playing Fields, where both races start.
Both races finish by the Shore Inn at the Old Harbour. From the finish line, it is less than 10 minutes walk back to the car park, shuttle buses are available and run regularly from the main festival areas to the car park.
Toilets and changing facilities are available.
2km fun run
The 2km fun run starts at 10.00am and new for this year will be timed. The route starts at the Recreation Park, goes around Portsoy then down into the harbour and finishes at the Shore Inn.
10km road run
The 10km road run starts at 10.30am. The route starts at the Recreation Park, it then heads west towards Sandend and turns inland to climb up the long but easy Durn Hill, down past Damheads before turning left onto the Huntly Road. One more diversion takes the run past Durn Cottages, Durn Farm and Durn House before turning left onto the Banff Road and heading into Portsoy, once in Portsoy you will turn right onto the route of the old railway track to the harbour finishing at the Shore Inn.
Registration and entry fees
Entry fees include a goody bag, entrance to the festival and a medal on completion. The race is electronically timed with live results.
Please note that during the registration process for the 10k your Scottish Athletics/UKA membership will be checked and if valid the appropriate discount will be applied. British Athletics and Welsh Athletics members can also obtain the discount by entering their membership number into the appropriate field.
Entrants into the 10k will be able to select to receive an SMS message of their finish time, the first message is free, additional messages will be charged.
A £1 per entry administration fee will be charged by our online entry partners, Results Base.
