                                          An ideal long-distance course all contained within the Ennerdale valley.

Ennerdale is a remote valley on the western fringes of the Lake District National Park. A truly spectacular location for trail running with a fantastic combination of trails in a unique natural environment. It is surrounded by some of the Lake Districts most iconic mountains; Great Gable, Pillar and Haystacks, providing a natural backdrop full of dramatic ridges and wooded slopes.

All routes will be fully marked so no navigation experience is necessary.

Ranging from single-track lakeshore trails through woodland and into the heart of the wild & remote Ennerdale Valley, the varied terrain offers a diverse and exciting course to runners.

Course: This is a superb route whether you are looking to complete your first ultra or an experienced runner. The route comprises two 25k circuits, starting & finishing at the centre. There is a total ascent of 920' per circuit, predominantly along forest roads with a rocky section along the southern shore of Ennerdale Water.

The trail offers stunning views throughout looking into the wild valley across to the fells of Great Gable, Pillar and Steeple.

Terrain: A low level undulating route with a great combination of off-road running terrain throughout. The first section of the course is on well surfaced gravel trails and forest roads along the lakeshore, set beneath the crags of Bowness Knott. The route returns along the southern shores of Ennerdale. This section is rough underfoot and very rocky, with a short-exposed scramble around Anglers Crag.
