Event Cancelled

Thank you to everyone for your patience whilst we have continued to monitor the coronavirus outbreak over the past couple of months, and what it may mean for the Run Leicester Festival. It is with great regret that we must now announce the cancellation of the first-ever Run Leicester Festival.

Whilst there has been much discussion on initiatives that could be introduced to allow races to go ahead this Autumn, there are none we feel go far enough in order to be able to guarantee the safety of our runners and our city. In a world where things seem to change almost daily, we have tried to strike a balance between waiting to see what the world will look like, versus giving all of you as much notice as possible. It is our hope that in cancelling just over three months out from the event that this allows for the certainty that we all crave.

All runners regardless of how they registered for the original event (either as a paid entry, charity place, competition winner, or previous deferral) are eligible for the following options:

Option 1

Claim a free entry into the all-new, ‘Run The World’ event in September (worth £15). The remainder of your original entry fee will be treated as a donation to our official charity partner, LOROS Hospice. Any T-shirt purchases will also be transferred to Run The World. You can find out all the details of the event online here.

Please note that this will be the default option for all runners – if you fail to select an option by the deadline of midnight on Wednesday 22nd July then your entry will automatically be transferred to Run The World.

Option 2

If you don’t wish to take part in ‘Run the World’, then our official charity partner, LOROS Hospice would be extremely grateful if you would consider taking up the option of donating your entire entry fee to LOROS.

Please note that Run Leicester will make the donation on your behalf. As a special thank you, all runners choosing this option will receive a 20% discount code for the 2021 Run Leicester Marathon or Half Marathon to be sent out via email once entries open later this year.

Option 3

For those that don’t want to take part in ‘Run the World,’ you also have the option to defer your original entry for the Run Leicester Half or Marathon entry to next year’s event in 2021.

Deferral is free of charge but please note that you will need to re-register for the event via a link that will be emailed to you once entries for the 2021 event have opened. The 2021 event date has not yet been confirmed and you will not be able to defer your place again should you not be able to participate next year.

Option 4

Whilst we are an entirely not-for-profit event, with all proceeds donated to LOROS Hospice, we recognise that for some people the above options may not appeal and so you do also have the opportunity to claim a refund for your entry, minus the original booking fee.

Please note that any refunds will be paid back after Wednesday 22nd July directly to the original credit or debit card that you registered with, and may take up to thirty days to arrive. Runners should also note that you cannot claim a refund if you have entered with a charity place, deferred your place from a previous year, or won your place as a prize.

How to choose your option

To select your option please log-in to the Results Base profile that you created when your first entered and find your Ticket for the event. This will be in ‘Your tickets’ under the My Area menu.

NOTE: if someone else bought your entry on their profile it is they who will need to do this for you.

Click the ‘Changes’ button’ on your Run Leicester Festival 2020 ticket and select the ‘Change distance’ option.

Select the option that you want and click the ‘Change Distance’ button. You’ll get a confirmation email showing your selection (you can update this as long as it’s before the deadline).

The deadline for all participants to inform us what they would like to do with their entry is midnight on Wednesday 22nd July. After this time, all entries will automatically be transferred to Run The World (Option 1), and you will not be able to change it after this time.
