The world famous Blaydon Race unfortunately won't be “gannin alang the Scotswood Road” on the 9th June 2021 but we do have an alternative for you. You can run 6 miles at any time on 9th June 2021 ANYWHERE in the world and send your result via Strava, Garmin or similar link to TimingUpNorth.
Last year we had almost 3000 runners taking part and this year we hope to have more. Run your favourite 6 miles route or choose as flat a route as possible to get your fastest time. Under current government guidelines you could do it with a friend, and let's hope by June you may be able to run it with more friends together.
£2 from every entry fee this year will go to Metro Radio's Cash for Kids Charity.
Cash for Kids is a local charity, and it is their mission to support local children who are disabled, disadvantaged, sick, or suffering from abuse or neglect, from the ages of 0-18. All the funds for the charity are raised locally, and redistributed locally, to individuals, families and other charities dedicated to improving the lives of young people.We are proud to operate an 80% contribution across the UK, with clear visibility on where the money goes and who it is helping. However, at Metro Radio Cash For Kids, our last audit showed that our contribution was much higher, with at least 90 pence in every pound donated going directly to the children we help and support.This year, we hope to support lots more children in the region. Year on year, the need for support for children across the North East is growing. As such, the Cash For Kids targets are increasing. This year, it is our aim to raise over £2.5 million to help local children. Without the support of the public, local businesses, donations and grants from trusts, it would be impossible for us to meet this target and continue our life altering work. With the help and support of The Blaydon Race we can make a difference the lives of local children
