We are pleased to announce that the 2022 Woodhorn Museum Triathlon has been selected to host the World Standard Distance Triathlon Age Group Qualifier for the 2023 World Championship and the European Sprint Distance Triathlon Age Group Qualifier for the 2023 European Championship.

The Woodhorn Museum triathlon is located within the picturesque historic scheduled ancient monument of Woodhorn Museum and the QE2 Country park. The Woodhorn Museum Triathlon has a successful history in hosting national events, the event has previously hosted the British Triathlon age group championships and was an ETU Standard Distance Triathlon European Championship Qualifier in 2019, and also hosted an ITU World Standard Distance Triathlon Qualifier and the Triathlon England Standard Distance Triathlon Championships in 2021.

The swim will be in the warm, shallow, freshwater QE2 lake set within the park grounds. The bike route will take you out of the Museum along to the coastal route through Widdrington Village, before sweeping onto the coast and along to the beautiful Druridge bay and Cresswell village with some breath-taking views along the coastline.

The Woodhorn Museum triathlon is an ideal event for individuals and relay teams of all abilities, so if you are a new to the sport, there’s no need to be concerned about entering. We look after everyone regardless; we will be with you all the way to the finish line, and you can be assured that there will be plenty of other multi-sport athletes of a similar ability taking part. If you are worried about open water swimming, why not join us for our weekly open water swimming sessions at the QE2 lake (every Thursday, May - July), further details are on our open water swim page

The minimum age for the Sprint distance events is 15 years old on 31st December 2022, and for the Standard distance event is 17 years old on 31st December 2022.
