The Ashington Triathlon 2016
Following on from the last year's huge success under the wings of Tri Northumberland Triathlon Club, the Ashington Triathlon enters its eighth year. An ever popular early-season triathlon which always sells out early so don't delay in entering. This event attracts a wide range of competitors from all abilities, especially beginners who made up 58% of entries last year. This year we are pleased to include 20 places for relay teams. If we get sufficient entries we may run a corporate section or if you've wanted to be part of a triathlon but not been confident in one of the disciplines this is your opportunity.
Hosted in the town of Ashington once famous for being the largest mining town in Europe, with the kind invite from Active Northumberland this year's Triathlon will start at the town's all new £21 million leisure centre.
Venue and course
The event will start with a 400m swim (16 lengths) of the pool in the new £21 million Ashington Leisure Centre. Maintaining tradition, the swim will be followed by a 2½ lap 22km cycle ride through the beautiful village of Bothal and the pleasure of riding up Bothal Bank twice, the remainder being relatively flat with some good long flats to get up good speed on the tri bars. The run is a 5k 1½ lap route through the tranquil Ashington Woods. Full details and course maps can be found at www.ashingtontriathlon.com
Entry limits
The Ashington Triathlon has an entry limit of 270 individual spaces and 20 relay team entries. If you are entering as a corporate team the entry system will collect details for all three members of the team and you will each need to bring your BTF licence to registration or pay the £5 day licence. It is expected that all spaces will go very early, there will be NO entries on race day. Please take the time to read the Event Terms and Conditions page for details on withdrawals and refunds.
