The Windermere Epic Lakes Swim is final event of the Epic Lakes Open Water Swim Series. It takes place from YMCA Lakeside, Newby Bridge. You can choose either the 500m, the 1 mile or the 5km distances, depending upon your age and ability. Bring the family and join us for the season finale, it’s going to be another EPIC day out in the Lake District.

Swimmers will be set off in a solo time trial format for social distancing

The swims will be in the order of 5k, 1mile, 500m

What do I need to enter

There will be the option when entering the mile or the 5k races to swim without a wetsuit (skin swimmer). You must have previous event experience of swimming without a wetsuit which must be provided at the point of entry. Tow floats will be compulsory for all skin swimmers. For all other competitors wetsuits are compulsory. Shortie type wetsuits are allowed if you are an experienced swimmer but we recommend full length arms and legs due to the cold temperatures. If you are susceptible to the cold, we would also recommend neoprene hats, socks and gloves. The minimum age for competitors is 11/14/17 for the 500m/1m/3.8k on the day of the event.

How much to enter

The cost to enter the 500m/1mile/5k is £20/25/32. Entries will close either at 12noon on the Thursday prior to the event or when the event fills, whichever occurs first.
