Peak District 70th Birthday Challenge Series 2021

The Peak District 70th Birthday Challenge Series is an opportunity to take part in a number of virtual races/competitions to add to the fun of accumulating your kilometres towards your Run for the Birds Challenge. 

The series operates alongside the ‘Run for the Birds’ personal challenge and is open to anyone who has signed up for that event.

During the 70 days of the Run for the Birds challenge, you will be able to take part in as many or as few of the events listed below as you choose, and compete for prizes in the individual events as well as clocking up distances to earn your Run for the Birds award.

The events are:

1.    The Single 7: 7km run/walk

2.    Big 7-0 Relay: 10 x 7km as a relay (teams of up to 6 people allowed) Please upload the accumulated time of all participants within your relay team. 

3.    Seventy Up: Time taken to gain 70 metres of elevation

4.    Collection of 7: Time taken to visit 7 common features shown on an ordnance survey map (place of worship, public telephone, public house, water course or body or water, woodland, 1km of public footpath, trig point)

5.    Win, Lose or Draw: Accumulated time for you and a partner to separately climb the equivalent of Win and Lose Hills from the Hope Valley (301 metres and 314 metres respectively). 

6.    Kinda Kinder: Time taken to climb the equivalent height of Kinder Scout summit from sea level (636.3m) without visiting Kinder Scout itself. 

7.    The Big 7-0: 70km run/walk

Times for each event must be submitted as ‘elapsed’ NOT ‘moving’ time and, to be eligble for prizes, supporting evidence uploaded via your ResultsBase profile.
