The Grange Spa Sportive 2023

The Grange Spa Sportive 2023

Sunday
14 May 2023

The Grange Spa Sportive is back for 2023.

In conjunction with the luxurious Grange Spa we are very excited to bring back this festival-like cycling adventure. Starting and finishing at The Spa, you will experience grounds and facilities that are unrivalled in any other Sportive. Luxurious changing facilities, stunning grounds, ample bike racking, and fresh coffee are just some of the perks awaiting cyclists and families as they arrive.

As you leave the tranquil surroundings of The Grange Spa behind, you will be treated to some of the very best views Lincolnshire and Leicestershire have to offer. However, as you have come to expect from Trident Sports Events, the experience doesn't end there, when you return to the Spa you will be treated to a mini welcoming party including hot food for all competitors, a live band, fun and games for spectators and families alike and stalls to tempt you with new purchases. This really will be a day for all the family.

In order to cater for everyone we have three options for you to choose from:

The Short Option (20.2 Miles) - This route will be ideal for the beginner cyclist or families who want a route to complete together. Heading out of the stunning village, riders will pass through Billingborough and towards Horbling before taking the scenic west bound journey. Carefully selected, this route is on quite rolling country roads with minimal traffic to ensure riders of all abilities can feel safe and enjoy the Sportive.

The Medium Option (54.9 Miles) - This route is aimed at the more dedicated cyclist or those of you who want to test yourself. With over 2000ft of elevation this will definitely quash the myth that Lincolnshire is flat. Again heading out in a westerly direction riders will skirt south of Grantham before heading down towards the picturesque county border with Rutland. This route will have an aid station at around 30 miles before cyclists head back through the stunning towns of Castle Bytham, Swayfield and Grimsthorpe to name a few. As with all our routes they are ridden in an anticlockwise direction to minimise turning across traffic and we have tried to avoid as many busy, major roads as possible to ensure the best possible riding experience.

The Long Option (86.9 miles) - Are you up for the Trident challenge? This option is not for the faint hearted. 86.9 miles. 4133ft of elevation. Steepest climb 11%. The course is ready are you?
Aimed at the keen cyclists, this Long course should have a little something for everyone. As with the Medium route, riders will get to visit the aid station at 30 miles and then again at 60 miles. Crossing through two counties and multiple districts riders will be treated to some amazing views, challenging climbs, fast descents, twists and turns etc. This really will offer every rider a complete experience. Please note riders who have not made it to the first aid station by 11:30 will be directed onto the medium course

Race Details:

There will be signs throughout the route and we have taken onboard the feedback from last year and will be increasing the number we have out on the course. We still strongly encourage all participants to download the route from our website and load into a suitable head unit or GPS device. Furthermore, we also promote all entrants to download the ‘What Three Words’ app available on Android and Apple. This will significantly improve the ability to locate you, or a fellow rider in the case of an emergency.

Entrants will receive a drink, hot meal (choices (see below) to be made at time of entry), finishers medal and goodie bag. Entries will close on 10th May 23.

Hot Food Options for 2023, provided by the excellent Catering Crew will be:

  • 8oz Steak Burger
  • Asian Chicken Meatball Sub
  • Pulled Lamb wrap, slaw and mint yoghurt
  • Moving Mountains burger, slaw and smoked paprika vegan mayo (Vegan Option)

Pricing: From Summer 2022 we have changed our pricing structure to combat increasing costs and challenges faced by all of us and to try and ensure we never have to cancel a race. We now have the following model in place:

  1. ‘LAUNCH OFFER’ this will be the guaranteed LOWEST price you will see for our event.
  2. After the ‘LAUNCH OFFER” expires we will revert to the standard pricing.
  3. Our event will finally switch to Tier 2 pricing for the last 8 weeks until entries close. This is typically the point we have to make commitments to suppliers etc.
