Course Route

Route A is the preferred route but Route B will be used if conditions dictate. The committee reserve the right to use Route B should it be necessary in the interest of safety. (Routes A and B are the same for first 6.5kms)

The 10km (almost circular) course begins with a long, steady incline - lasting about 2 km. It is hard work getting to the top of this; but once you are at the top it is pretty well downhill or flat for the next rest of the course (route A only! Route B has another hill at 7.5 kms)

Route A : At about 6.5km the route veers off the tarmac road and onto a farm track. There is a small incline at this point but it doesn’t last long. This ‘off road’ section lasts for about a kilometre. Conditions here may be a bit tricky.

Route B : If the farm track is too muddy/dangerous the route will continue on the road down to the main Torphins/Lumphanan road. You will then take a right turn onto this ‘main’ road. Unfortunately, this means a bit of a climb before the final descent into the village.

Course Safety

  • Run on the right hand side of the road at all times.
  • Lead car with flashing beacon will head up the race.
  • Adhere to course marshalls who will be positioned around the route for your safety.
  • Traffic has the right away on all public roads – please stay safe!!!!
