  • The winner is the team that travels the furthest distance over the challenge period.
  • Any of the below forms of travel are allowed (indoor and outdoor):
    • Running
    • Walking
    • Cycling
    • Swimming
    • Rowing
    • Kayaking
  • No limit on the number of activities on any day

Distance Conversion

Activity Conversion
Running 1:1
Walking 1:1
Cycling 3:1
Rowing/Kayaking 1:1
Swimming 1:4

Submitting Your Distance

You can submit your result here.

Don't forget if you have a Garmin you can link this to the Results Base system and once the activity has been saved on Garmin connect, this will be pulled in by the Results Base system.

The Strava Club

Join the Get your Shoos on Strava Club: https://www.strava.com/clubs/Getyourshooson

This is a private group on Strava and you will need to send a request to join (don’t worry I will approve you!)

  • You do not have to join the Strava Club to participate but this is a big part of the Get Your Shoos on community and allows you to see what your fellow competitors are doing, share activity pictures, give and reach kudos for your efforts and generally engage in some friendly banter
  • For those of you not already on Strava there is an option to join on a 30-day free trail or you can join the free basic level of Strava that will allow you to record your activities and join the club with paying the premium subscription.
  • You can also use the private setting on Strava which means your location data will not be shared.

Steps...

  • You can convert your daily steps into distance provided there is no double counting.
  • We will apply a conversion rate of 2,000 steps to 1 mile.
  • So if you cover 20,000 steps in one day but in that day you completed a 5 mile run then you only have 10,000 steps to covert to your daily distance so your total mileage for that day would be 10 miles.
  • Step distances will need to be submitted on ResultsBase in the same way as distances.

Progress Updates

Every other day we will provide a progress update and a selection of participant photos plus a couple of spot prizes along the 2 weeks period.

Rivington Walk – 11 November

For all of you local to Rivington Pike we will be organizing a group walk on Friday 11 November to allow you to get some group miles in and meet up with fellow participants.

This is totally optional but something that featured prominently in the feedback and hopefully a nice way to meet your virtual competitors.

Subject to numbers the plan is to have 2 routes with shorter and longer distance groups.

Pictures

  • We’d love to see what you are all getting up to over the 2 weeks so please do send some pictures with your distance updates.
  • Please do add pictures to the Strava Group or if Instagram is more your thing give @getyourshooson2022 a follow
  • There will be prizes for best selfie, best sunrise, best sunset, best and worst kit, wettest run/walk etc so impress us.

Social Media

Sharing is caring so we would love to see you sharing the challenge on social media be that Twitter, Instagram or LinkedIn.

  • Insta @getyourshooson2022
  • The all-important hashtags for those who want to use them #getyourshooson #virtualchallenge #stepawayfromthescreen #getoutside

Finally...

The idea is to have a great 2 weeks - it’s just for fun (says one of the most competitive people ever)

  • Any questions send me an email

See you on the Virtual Start line on 31 October!
