The Fairy tale of Newquay 2023
Back for 2023! The Fairy tale of Newquay on Sat 9th December!
A Festive 15 Mile ‘long’ half and stealth 30 Mile ultra marathon along the North Coast of Cornwall starting & finishing on Porth Beach in Newquay! Take part in this timed self-navigation run and collect essential trinkets at the themed checkpoints along the way!
All runners will register at the Mermaid Inn in Newquay, Ultra runners will start on Porth Beach, the long half runners will be bused over to the start point at Harlyn Bay. Runners will be issued a GPS tracker with a live link to the route along with a map at race registration. A kit check will also take place here too. There will be a checkpoints at key points laden with fluid & salt / sugar snacks.
All runners must carry the following essential items:
- A fully charged mobile phone with charger, issued GPS tracker & map
- Headtorch with spare battery
- Spare warm clothing in a waterproof bag (hat/leggings/gloves/top)
- A hi-vis top or reflective strips-clothing
- Small first aid kit
- Nutrition / compass (phone app acceptable)
- Whistle
- Collapsible/Reuasble cup
- Minimum 800ml fluid.
- Plus! A festive ornament of your choosing!
All runners will receive a Fairy tale of Newquay medal & there will be awards for the top finishers!
Runners have 10 hours to complete the marathon and 6 hours to complete the half.

Charity Entry
Newquay Coastguard team is made up of volunteers from all walks of life who live and work in the Newquay Area. They are ready to respond to any coastal emergency at a moments notice 24hours a day, 365 days a year. Newquay Coastguard Association was established in February 2012 to support those volunteers.
