The 2023 Montane Lakeland 50 & 100 Festive Ultra Run starts on Saturday 9th December and finishes on Wednesday 20th December.

You can enter either the 50 mile or the 100 mile (actually 105 miles) challenge and all profits from the event will go to charity.

This year's charity project is 'BOOKS FOR SCHOOLS'. Our aim is to raise at least £15,000 and give away 100 x £150 vouchers to primary schools to be spent on books. 

The format is simple, each day you walk, run, swim, cycle or push a chosen distance (you choose how far) and then at the end of each day you upload how many miles you’ve covered - if you miss a day that's fine just so long as your total at the end of the 12 days corresponds to the distance you have entered, either 50 or 105 miles.

The challenge is to complete either 50 miles or 105 miles within 12 days, with your final run or walk being Wednesday 20th December.

Throughout the week we’ll have a live leader board showing how far people have travelled and we’ll also have live updates each evening on our Facebook Group. The usual nonsense / fun and games / Foxcast will provide entertainment and we'll have a special schools creative writing competition with big prizes. No doubt that a fox, a reindeer and a donkey will be involved in some way too!

By allowing 12 days to complete the challenge, the event is open and achievable to far more people than any other year. If you can cover just over 4 miles of walking or running each day, you can complete the 50 mile challenge. If you can cover just over 8 miles of walking or running per day (you can break it into 2 separate walks / runs per day) then you can complete the 105 mile challenge.

In addition to the main event, we'll also be organising:

• A free virtual challenge for primary schools. Get your local school involved by emailing organiser@lakeland100.com. Schools can enter the virtual event (kids to collectively run 105 miles) and any associated competitions for free.
