Sunday
25 August 2024

Come and join us at our Run Banchory event on Sunday 25th August. The main events are the 10k multi-terrain race, half marathon multi-terrain race and a new 5k event. The 10k and the half-marathon events predominately take place in the scenic Scolty/Blackhall forest area. Both race routes will cater for all running abilities but will definitely be known as a good test.

The new 5k event is a generally a flat route that takes runners along Blackhall road before looping down to the riverside taking in beautiful views of the River Dee before returning to the King George V Park.

There will also be a 1k run for school pupils between primary 1 and 7. The 1k run will take place in the grounds of the King George V Park and the surrounding area. There will be medals, refreshments and a great community atmosphere!

Start Times

  • Half Marathon - 11.00am
  • 10k - 11.10am
  • 5k - 11.20am
  • Barry Chalmers Painting and Decorating Services 1K Kids Race - 10.20am (P1-P3), 10.25am (P4-P7)

10k and Half Marathon Courses

Both the 10k and Half Marathon routes start on the B974, opposite the first lamp post after the King George V playing field. Runners head south over the River Dee bridge, round the sharp right hand bend and turn right along Blackhall Road. Runners continue on this route until the end of the tarmac. At this point, runners will bear left on to a forestry track.

Just before the 10k runners reach the top of their climb ready to return home, the half marathon runners will bear right and follow a forestry track around the Blackhall Forest eventually joining up with the 10k route once again. The forestry track eventually becomes a tarmac surface again, and at the fork runners will bear right onto the same road as the outward run. They will turn left down the steep steps onto the B974. Runners will then turn right through the playing field gates to the finish in the King George V playing field at the football pitch line.

The 5k Course

The 5k route will also start on the B974, opposite the first lamp post after the King George V playing field. Runners will head south over the Dee bridge, round the sharp right hand bend and run along Blackhall Road. At approx 1.75 miles, runners will take a right at the black gate down to the Riverside and then take a right along to the black gates enjoying some fantastic scenery. Runners will then take a left back towards the finish at KGV park. This route is ideal for beginners or runners looking to get a 5k PB!
