These terms and conditions apply to all participants who register to take part in the Pier2Pier Sea Swim Isle of Wight on 20th July or 3rd August 2024. The organisation and timing of this event shall be under the direct control of the Isle of Wight Marlins Swim Club (IWMSC) organisers, and their decision will be final in all matters.
1. By registering in the event you agree to be bound by these terms and conditions.
2. The minimum entry age is 15 years, on the date of the swim. Swimmers aged between 15 and 17 years old must be accompanied by a responsible adult at all times before and after the swim, and the responsible adult will accept the terms and conditions of the Pier2Pier Sea Swim Isle of Wight during the entry process on behalf of the entrant. Swimmers in the 15 to 17 year age category must wear a wetsuit whilst competing in the Pier2Pier Sea Swim Isle of Wight, and must provide proof of membership of a Swim England-affiliated swim club.
3. You are responsible for reading the information regarding the event contained on the website, sent to you by post or e-mail leading up to the swim, and on the day at the swim location site. You will also attend the safety briefing given by event organisers prior to the start of the swim.
4. The registration fee must be paid at the time of registration. If the event is cancelled by the IWMSC (for example, due to bad weather/dangerous conditions) we will refund £30 per swimmer, and will retain the balance to cover costs including event insurance, finance and administration.
5. If any details provided by you during registration change you must notify IWMSC immediately by e-mailing p2p@iowmarlinsswimclub.co.uk . The IWMSC reserve the right to cancel your participation in the event if any information provided by you is found to be inaccurate in any way. In these circumstances the entrant will not be eligible for a refund.
6. All competitors take part entirely at their own risk. Personal accident insurance included with Swim England will not apply as this is not a Swim England event. Personal accident insurance for ages 15-79 is provided by the BLDSA, and is included in your event fee. Personal accident cover is not included for entrants aged 80 and older. For insurance compliance, you are asked to note the following points, which include but are not limited to;
a. The start will be from the beach.
b. Minimum age for participation is 15 years.
c. There is a limitation to the number of swimmers based on the ratio of safety craft to swimmers – one safety craft per six swimmers is required.
7. You undertake to compete in this event at your own risk and fully understand that the organisers will not be held responsible for any injury (including death), illness, accident to your person, or loss of property resulting from any cause whatsoever. You have not been informed by any medical practitioner and you have no knowledge of any medical condition which would make it inadvisable for you to compete in this event. You can swim a minimum of 2 miles in open, deep water sea conditions, and are fully confident in your ability to complete the swim in approximately one hour.
8. You agree to photographs and video being taken at the event and that any images of you may be used by the IWMSC in any media regarding the event, and to market and advertise the event or any other similar events.
9. By registering you are agreeing to any data provided being used by the IWMSC to contact you regarding this and other events.
